FETP Family Says Final Goodbye to Dr. Dionisio Herrera
On December 4, 2018, Dr. Dionisio Herrera, Director of TEPHINET, passed away after a life of contribution to public health across the globe. With his vast and diverse career in the field and as the leader of TEPHINET for ten years, Dr. Dionisio’s mark is seen in field epidemiology training across the continents. Whether it was for regional FETP networks or for national programs, he was a keen supporter.
Towards EMPHNET, Dr. Dionisio showed his support from the very day our organization was established, and his utmost consideration for field epidemiology in the region is known by many.
The most recent recognition Dr. Dionisio received, just a couple of weeks before he passed away, attests to his contributions: The Task Force Consequential Compassion Award for Extraordinary Achievement in Global Health.
Dr. Dionisio’s legacy is felt with everyone who was fortunate to work with him. His positivity has inspired them, and his passion for the field was radiating. The loss of Dr. Dionisio Herrera saddens us. We lost a great man, but it comforts us that his legacy will live on.
We send our deepest condolences to his family and the larger FETP family worldwide.
