Sudan Public Health Empowerment Program Surveillance for Polio Officers Second Workshop
The Federal Ministry of Health in Sudan is implementing the Public Health Empowerment Program – Surveillance for Polio Officers (PHEP – SPO). This is a three-month, in-service program which aims to build the capacities of polio and Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) staff in areas of disease surveillance and public health management.
Implemented in collaboration with GHD/EMPHNET, the PHEP-SPO capitalizes on the expertise of these staff members for the benefit of the EPI and other health programs, considering the country’s need to expand the national public health workforce especially at the district level.
The second PHEP-SPO workshop, “Outbreak Investigation/ Leadership and Management,” aims to strengthen skills of the program’s officers in investigation of vaccine preventable disease (VPD) outbreaks and other skills relevant to team management.
This workshop was the second in a three-part series forming the didactic component of the PHEP – SPO.
