    ​The workshop targets surveillance officers serving in 51 districts, and 350 volunteers within the same districts. The objectives of this training is to consider and acknowledge the role of communities as sources of formal and informal public health surveillance information in relation to acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) and introduce the community- based model for AFP to governorate and district levels surveillance officers. The training also aims to help communities build and strengthen the capacity of volunteers to conduct effective surveillance and response activities in line with AFP activities and improve the flow of surveillance information between the community and the local health facilities through the technical and administrative connection between the volunteers and health care providers.
