    GHD/EMPHNET and Ministry of Health in Tunisia Explore Establishment of FETP

    Global Health Development (GHD), represented by a delegation from EMPHNET, visited Tunis, Tunisia, February 13-18, 2017 to meet with principal stakeholders involved in establishing a Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) in the country.

    On the first day of the visit, GHD/EMPHNET’s delegates met with the Minister of Health, Her Excellency Sameera Rafeea, to obtain the ministry’s endorsement of the Tunisian FETP. To discuss the involvement of various stakeholders of this training program, the delegates also visited the National Observatory of New and Emerging Diseases (ONMNE) and the Virtual University of Tunis.

    On the last day of the visit, the GHD/EMPHNET team conducted a workshop for stakeholders of the FETP that included the Ministry of Health, ONMNE, academic institutions, and representatives of other stakeholders. The workshop created a platform for these stakeholders to discuss the FETP’s governance model, candidates’ selection process, curriculum, and the criteria for selecting field training sites.
