    Iraq Ministry of Health Launches Second Cohort of Public Health Empowerment Program – (PHEP-SPO)

    Supported by GHD/EMPHNET, the Iraq Ministry of Health (MoH) has organized the second workshop of the Public Health Empowerment Program (PHEP-SPO). The cohort comprises thirty-three health workers from Anbar, Erbil, Ninawa, and Salah Al-Din provinces.

    The first training workshop for this cohort was conducted between December 16 and 23, 2018, in Erbil, Iraq. Titled “Basic Epidemiology and Surveillance,” the workshop was aimed at building the capacity of the public health workforce in areas related to surveillance.

    The second workshop was conducted between February 3 and 7, 2019, in Erbil. Participants presented their field projects from the first session of field work, and they also learned about outbreak investigation and response, specimen collection and transport, problem analysis and risk communication.

    Following the second workshop, participants returned to their jobs where they started their second round of field work projects.
