EMPHNET held the second meeting for the Technical Steering Committee which is responsible facilitating and guiding the project for establishing a harmonized Reproductive Health Registry (hRHR) in Al Mafraq Governorate, Jordan. The meeting took place on March 6, 2019, and it comes as one step forward to establish the hRHR in the governorate. It is also one of a series of meetings that will be conducted during the year 2019, reflecting the continuous collaboration with the reproductive health stakeholders and partners from the Ministry of Health (MoH) and other health care sectors to improve reproductive health care services.

The Committee, chaired by Dr. Adnan Ishaq, the Assistant of the Secretary General for Primary Care at the MoH, discussed the second-year workplan for establishing the hRHR in Al Mafraq. Discussions focused on the feasibility of implementing the hRHR and considering best implementation scenarios to achieve the project’s objectives.

More specifically, the members discussed the pros and cons of each proposed implementation scenario. Afterwards, the members decided to pilot the hRHR at health care centers providing maternal and child health care, one governmental hospital, and one military hospital, seeing this as the best scenario. In addition, they also assessed the feasibly to pilot the hRHR at one private clinic in collaboration with another NGO.

The meeting was fruitful, and it sustained the well-established cooperation between the MoH and EMPHNET.
