E-Learning

The E-Learning Unit was established at the Center of Excellence for Applied Epidemiology (CEAE) in response to rising demand for accessible and scalable training across the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR). Building on the success of EMPHNET’s blended Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETPs), the unit designs and develops high-quality digital learning solutions tailored to public health professionals, with a strong emphasis on field epidemiology and priority public health functions.

 

Through this unit, we expand opportunities for continuous learning by offering diverse online courses that support academic growth, professional development, and vocational training. All courses are hosted on the EMPHNET Learning Management System (EMPHNET LMS), which enables interactive content delivery and user-friendly learning experiences.

Why EMPHNET is involved

We established the E-Learning Unit to meet growing regional needs for flexible and accessible training. The region requires scalable learning platforms that:

  • Expand access for professionals working in remote or crisis-affected settings.
  • Support countries in sustaining training beyond traditional classroom formats.
  • Digitize national training packages and strengthen institutional learning systems.
  • Provide cost-effective, competency-based learning aligned with country priorities.
  • Through eLearning, EMPHNET helps broaden reach, enhance learning quality, and build stronger, more resilient public health workforces.

    • Digitizing Training Needs Assessment (TNA) tools to support evidence-based workforce planning.

    • Providing eLearning development services to organizations and networks seeking to modernize their educational programs
