PUBLIC HEALTH THROUGH YOUR LENS Field epidemiologists safeguard the health of all. They work in the field, day-to-day, to ensure the well-being of infants, children, families, and entire communities. Their mark is life-changing, and their work merits recognition.  EMPHNET is launching “Public Health Through Your Lens,” its 2016 Photography Competition, to do just that! The competition aims to spotlight the work of Field Epidemiology Training Programs' (FETPs) graduates and residents working in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR)- to show where their public health activities have made a remarkable difference. EMPHNET's annual photo competition helps create visibility for FETPs operating in the region, as EMPHNET will promote and publish photos taken by residents and graduates  on its website, social media channels, news websites, and other platforms. These photos will reach target audiences in the region and in the international community. This will establish stronger support for FETPs, and it will inspire more motivated individuals to join these programs. What It’s All About The competition is open only to FETP residents and graduates working in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR). Contestants must submit photos they have taken of their work in the field of public health. The photos must comply with the competition’s thematic and technical criteria which are detailed here:              Themes:              1. Outbreak Investigation              2. School Health              3. Emergency Response              4. Immunization              5. Health Education or Campaigns              6. Research              7. Field Work/ Community Work              8. Hygiene and Sanitation              Technical Specifications:              1. High resolution format (approximately 1800x1400 pixels)              2. A minimum size of 2 MB              3. Colored or black and white              4. Photo manipulation must be kept to a minimum. How to Apply 1. Upload your photos (a maximum of 15 images) using your Dropbox account. 2. Download and fill in the 2016 FETP Photography Competition Entry Form  (form must be typed, not handwritten). Here, you include photo information and an appropriate caption for each submitted photo. 3. Fill in the competition’s Submission Form by providing personal and contact information and other details. 4. Click “Submit” to send us your submission form. *Please note that images sent via email will be disregarded. Deadline Deadline for submission is  August 31, 2016. 5:00 PM Jordan Local Time (GMT +3) Here’s How You Will Be Judged A jury composed of public health professionals will be judging the entries based on the following criteria: 1. Technical specifications (focus, lighting, exposure, etc.) 2. Relevance to the assigned themes. 3. Originality. 4. Caption clarity and accuracy. Winners! Winners will be notified of their selection via email by September 15, 2016, in which they will also be informed of details related to their award collection. They will be awarded the following prizes: 1st Place: A conference / workshop grant (limit is $3000) which provides funding for the winner to attend an international, regional, or local event of his/ her choice. The grant applies to conferences, workshops, or other public events related to the field of public health. 2nd Place:  Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 3rd Place:   Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX80 Camera To win the 3rd place prize, get your friends to like EMPHNET’s Facebook page and get them to like your photo. The owner of the entry with the most likes on Facebook from people who like our EMPHNET page will win.  Note that you will not be considered for this prize if you have won any of the other two  prizes.
