EMPHNET Announces Winners of 2016 Photo Competition Public Health Through Your Lens
November 08, 2016

The time has arrived to announce the winners of EMPHNET’s annual photo competition Public Health Through Your Lens. Launched in April of this year, the competition aimed to collect photos taken by residents and graduates of Field Epidemiology Training Programs in the Eastern Mediterranean Region that capture their accomplishments in the field through creative, memorable photos and give contestants the chance for their work to be viewed by a wider audience. After carefully reviewing all submissions, our jury members now have the winners: First place: Dr. Shumaila Rasool Country Program: Pakistan Prize: A conference/workshop grant (limit is $3000) which provides funding for the winner to attend an international, regional, or local event of her choice. The grant applies to conferences, workshops, or other public events related to the field of public health. Second Place: Dr. Haidar Hantoosh Country Program: Iraq Prize: Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 We thank Dr. Rasool and Dr. Hantoosh for submitting entries that capture the role of field epidemiologists in genuine and artistic photography. We also thank the other contestants for taking the time and effort to participate in the contest. Note: The third-place prize is a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX80 camera which will be awarded to the Facebook competition winner. Stay tuned for the announcement of the contestants selected for this competition. You might still have a chance to win!
