About EMPHNET and Its Regional Conferences

Since its inception in 2009, EMPHNET has been organizing regional conferences which serves as a platform for public health professionals from the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) and other priority countries to share knowledge, exchange experiences, and foster collaboration. Held biennially under different themes, the EMPHNET Regional Conference has become one of the most significant gatherings for public health professionals, attracting thousands of attendees eager to learn, network, and contribute to advancing public health practices in the region.

This Year’s Theme

In light of recent global health events, the importance of robust public health preparedness has never been more evident. These events have highlighted the vulnerabilities in our health systems and underscored the need for resilient communities and effective emergency response mechanisms. Against this backdrop, the Eighth EMPHNET Regional Conference will focus on the theme: "Advancing Public Health Preparedness and Response: Challenges, Opportunities, and Ways Forward."

Taking place in Amman, Jordan, September 15-18, 2024, this year’s conference presents a timely opportunity for public health professionals and other stakeholders to assess the current state of public health preparedness across the region. Participants will critically examine the challenges encountered during recent health crises, identify gaps, explore opportunities for growth, and define strategies to achieve global and national health security.
