Iraq FETP Gains Accreditation for Both its Advanced and Intermediate Modalities

EMPHNET congratulates the Iraq Field Epidemiology Training Program (Iraq FETP), its Program Director Dr. Yasser Younis Majid, and the Iraqi Ministry of Health for receiving international accreditation from the Training Programs in Epidemiology and Public Health Interventions Network (TEPHINET). This remarkable achievement represents a solid milestone in the history of FETPs across the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR), marking Iraq as the first country to secure dual recognition for both its Advanced and Intermediate programs. 

 

TEPHINET accreditation presents an opportunity for the world’s FETPs to align their goals with common standards that support quality training and increased recognition. Since the launch of its first cycle of accreditation in 2016, the TEPHINET Global Accrediting Body (GAB) has accredited more than 30 programs. This recognition signifies that a program has achieved high operational standards in the areas of management, infrastructure and operations, integration of public health service, and continuous quality improvement. The accreditation of the Iraq FETP is a testament to the program’s strength and sustainability, making it a true role model for the region and beyond. 

 

Commenting on this coveted success, EMPHNET’s Executive Director, Dr. Mohannad Al Nsour said "Iraq FETP has brought pride to our region with this extraordinary accomplishment. This achievement highlights the Program Director, the team, and the residents and graduates’ consistent dedication and commitment to excellence. We wish the program’s team and the Iraqi Ministry of Health continued success and further achievements in the future. This milestone is not only a triumph for Iraq but also an accomplishment that adds to the legacy of field epidemiology training programs in the Eastern Mediterranean Region and the globe.”
