GHD|EMPHNET supports countries in designing delivering effective public health programs by building capacity; providing technical support; and conducting research to prevent and control emerging and reemerging diseases, vaccine preventable diseases, and non-communicable diseases. GHD|EMPHNET focuses on areas of disease control, public health emergency management, polio eradication and routine immunization, health protection and promotion, and environmental health.
To assist countries in developing and strengthening public health programs, GHD|EMPHNET focuses on addressing gaps and needs while also ensuring programs’ sustainability. GHD|EMPHNET promotes inter-sectoral and multi-disciplinary coordination in implementing programs. One example is the promotion of the One Health Approach where sectors of the human, environmental, and animal health collaborate to address zoonotic diseases. GHD|EMPHNET also emphasizes factors that significantly influence health and well-being, such as gender, culture, equity, education, the environment, and the sociopolitical context.
