In contribution to global health security, GHD|EMPHNET supports countries in reducing the burden of infectious diseases. GHD|EMPHNET aims to strengthen country capacities in the detection of and response to emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases through coordinating efforts, identifying risks, raising awareness, building capacities, and conducting research. In line with this aim, a team of epidemiologists, laboratorians, veterinarians, and biosafety experts work with countries in strengthening laboratory capacities in laboratory-based surveillance and detection of diseases-with focus on zoonotic diseases, and biorisk management.

Contributions

Embracing the One Health Approach

Building Workforce Capacities in Biorisk Management

Supporting Enhanced Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance

Strengthening Surveillance, Diagnostics, and Control of Human and animal brucellosis in Iraq, Jordan, and Pakistan through building laboratory capacities

Training over 200 laboratory professionals in Afghanistan, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Pakistan, Tunisia, and Yemen in biosafety and biosecurity best practices
