Training on the Use of the Mobile Data Collection (MDC) System in High Risk Areas in Jordan for Immunization Teams and Supervisors

Strengthening its role as a technical body working alongside other international organizations and ministries of health, EMPHNET collaborated with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the Jordan Ministry of Health (MoH), the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and IMMAP to conduct a series of one-day training sessions on Mobile Data Collection (MDC). These trainings targeted immunization teams and MoH supervisors working in high-risk areas in northern, central, and southern Jordan respectively. Members of EMPHNET’s management teams attended the workshop, while also participating in the technical sessions. Within their role, they also provided technical assistance during the sessions was provided by IMMAP.

 

The immunization teams, supervisors and program managers were provided with training on mobile technology to be used in hard-to-reach and inaccessible areas at high risk for polio and other vaccine preventable diseases. Four separate workshops were conducted with the same training material for north, south and central Jordan as well as Za’atari Camp.

 

Combining presentations and practical exercises, the training served to introduce participants to the tools and tablets used for data collection pertaining to routine immunization activities. It also featured sessions on the related data to be filled after the completion of daily immunization activities. Furthermore, the training focused on the periodic analysis that should be made regarding the data collected.

 

The workshop was successful as mobile immunization teams reported that the workshop helped to better understand the use of up-to-date technology through use of tablets for data collection.
