EMPHNET Participates in Workshop on Curricula Development for the MED-HEALTH Master’s Program in Public Health Management

The Mediterranean Public Health Alliance (MED-HEALTH) is a project conducted by thirteen universities and non-governmental organizations from Belgium, Jordan, Palestine, Spain, Tunisia, and the United Kingdom. The goal of MED-HEALTH is to enhance competencies within the institutions of higher education in the countries of the South Mediterranean especially in the field of public health and consequently improve public health practice, develop employment opportunities, and meet the region’s health and socio-economic challenges.

To achieve its goal, MED-HEALTH aims to introduce a master’s degree program in public health management to be implemented in universities of the South Mediterranean Region. It also aims to establish an e-portal that will serve as a regional reference on public health management. Furthermore, MED-HEALTH strives to create a regional health management network that will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience and contribute to enhancing public health practice in the region.

As part of its project activities, MED-HEALTH conducted a workshop on the development of the curricula for the above-mentioned master’s program. Taking place at the University of Monastir in Monastir, Tunisia, between September 20-22,2017, the workshop saw participation from the members of the MED-HEALTH   consortium.

During this workshop, working groups discussed the content of the core courses. These courses were on Strategic Management and Commissioning; Contextual Factors and Health Information Systems; and Health Economics and Financing. These discussions focused on revising expected learning outcomes for these courses.

As part of this meeting, EMPHNET’s representative gave a presentation on insights for the project’s Public Health Management network and e-portal.
