GHD/EMPHNET Participates in First Steering Committee for RRT Knowledge Network

GHD|EMPHNET participated in the first steering committee meeting of the Rapid Response Teams Knowledge Network (RRT-KN) in Hammamet, Tunisia, between July 9 and 11, 2019.

 

The RRT-KN was created by the World Health Organization in 2015 to facilitate knowledge exchange among national RRT for assessing post-training RRT activities; facilitating peer learning; and promoting discussion on challenges and relevant interests. These discussions yield knowledge that can be used as a resource for RRT training and guidelines development.

 

The RRT KN steering committee members comprise representatives from ministries of health in Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, and Sudan; Abdou Moumouni University in Niger; and EMPHNET.

 

The meeting was also attended by the RRT-KN members from the African, South East Asian, and Eastern Mediterranean Regions. Attendance also included the Institute of Public Health in Benin, the Pakistan Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program, Public Health England, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and TEPHINET.

 

These participants met to set up the training activities of the RRT KN and RRT for 2019 and 2020. To this end, participants discussed lessons learned from the network’s activities in the past four years; means to achieve effective management for the network; and creation of links with relevant structures for better coordination of field response activities. Other points of discussion emerged, and they were mainly relevant to enhancing RRT training management, evaluation, and communication of field activities; as well as collaboration with multi-sector partners

 

. Drawing on the discussion, participants managed to prioritize actions and activities for 2019-2020.

 

GHD|EMPHNET’s participation in this meeting falls within its support for countries in strengthening preparedness, response, and recovery during public health emergencies through fostering inter-sectoral partnerships at the regional and international levels.
