The visit comes on the sidelines of the GOARN strategy implementation workshop and its 33rd steering committee meeting currently being hosted in the country by EMPHNET, a long-time member of GOARN

EMPHNET Welcomes GOARN and International Partners at Headquarters

On May 10, 2023, a delegation from the Global Outbreak Alert and Response and Network (GOARN) and representatives of international and regional organizations visited EMPHNET’s headquarters in Amman, Jordan. The visit comes on the sidelines of the GOARN strategy implementation workshop and its 33rd steering committee meeting currently being hosted in the country by EMPHNET, a long-time member of GOARN.

The delegation toured the four-story building which houses over 100 employees. There, the delegation was introduced on how EMPHNET collaborates with countries and partners, and how EMPHNET carries out technical projects with support of operational arms, ensuring the efficient project planning and implementation in line with clear standard operating procedures.

Team leaders from technical units gave a brief on EMPHNET’s contributions to public health programs in the EMR and beyond especially in polio eradication, immunization strengthening, biorisk management, control and prevention of communicable and non-communicable diseases, nutrition, promotion of the health of women, children, and adolescents, and emergency preparedness and response. They also introduced the delegation to the work of EMPHNET in support of workforce development in practice and field-based training that adopts different formats, online, face-to-face, and blended learning. On this occasion, they were shown EMPHNET's Occupational Health Safety Workshop which is equipped with the latest equipment, in addition to the boisafety training laboratory.
