In Recognition of Prof. Yousef Khader and His Achievement of the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence

His Majesty King Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan granted the Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network (EMPHNET) Director of the Center of Excellence for Applied Epidemiology and Team Leader of its Research and Policy Department, Prof. Yousef Khader the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence of the Second Class. This honor was granted in recognition of Prof. Khader’s work and achievements in the fields of research, epidemiology, and biostatistics.

 

This highly coveted and prestigious award is a reflection of Prof. Khader’s ongoing efforts and exceptional contributions to the field of scientific research. The award echoes his unwavering efforts and his commitments to the development and advancement of research in the field of public health.

 

This recognition is to be added to his long list of prestigious acknowledgements, and to name a few, these testimonies of excellence include:

 

  • The 2023 Research.com Medicine in Jordan Leader Award
  • The Khalifa Award for Distinguished Professor at the Level of Arab Scientists, 2022.
  • The “Outstanding Professor” Award for scientific achievements. Jordan University of Science and Technology, 2021
  • The Ali Mango Award for Distinguished Researcher in Medical Sciences, Hamdi Mango Center for the year 2021
  • The title of Distinguished Scientist and Distinguished Behavioral Scientist of the Venus International Research Awards– 2016 and 2018
  • The Distinguished Professor Award of the Jordan University of Science and Technology, 2017
  • The Shoman Award for Young Arab Researchers, of the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, July 2012
  • Fellowship of the Faculty of Public Health through Distinction (FFPH) of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom, 2009
  • The SCOPUS Award for Scientific Contribution, SCOPUS, 2009

 

Prof Khader also holds Doctoral of Science (ScD) in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University, School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana, as well as a Fellowship of the Faculty of Public Health through distinction (FFPH) from the Faculty of Public Health of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom. He holds a Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) from the Tulane University, School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana, a Master of Health Professions Education from the University of Maastricht in collaboration with Suez Canal University in the Netherlands, as well as a Master of Science (MSc) in Epidemiology which he obtained from the Jordan University of Science and Technology, amongst other degrees.

 

Prof. Khader is also a member of  several committees and scientific groups. He serves as an individual expert for the WHO Global Air Pollution and Health – Technical Advisory Group (GAPH-TAG), and he is Head of the Scientific Research Committee at the International Academy of Public Health (IAPH) Scientific Council. He  is also the  Chairman of the  Institutional Review Board (IRB) at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), and  the Faculty of Medicine Council, in the same university amongst other distinctions.

 

The King Abdullah II Award for Excellence is granted to individuals as well as civil, governmental, or military   organizations that have made notable contributions to their respective areas of work. The award is granted in recognition of its receivers’ unmatched commitment to the ongoing enhancement and fruitful contributions to their country. This recognition cements Prof. Khader’s role as a thought leader in his field of work and is a source of true inspiration for all his peers.

 

This award is not only a testament to Prof. Khader’s achievements, as it also bears witness to the years he spent dedicated to self-development and the development of his field of work. Over the years Prof. Khader was able to celebrate many triumphs, and we wish him further success in the years to come.
