The Afghanistan Field Epidemiology Training Program (A-FETP) conducted the second workshop for the program’s first cohort. The workshop was conducted at the National Emergency Operation Center in Kabul between June 22 and July 4, 2019. Twenty-eight residents participated in eth workshop from different provinces including Kabul, Farah, Faryab, Ghazni, Helmand, Kandahar, Khost, Kumar, Kundoz, Nangarhar, Nooristan, Paktika, Paktya, Sarepul, Urozgan, and Zabul.
The workshop commenced with the residents presenting their respective group projects which constituted the field assignments for the program’s first workshop. Following these presentations, residents sat through sessions on epidemiologic study designs as well as biostatistical concepts including statistical testing, stratified analysis, and protocol development. Practical sessions on Epi Info were also delivered for purposes of data analysis.
At the end of the workshop, residents were assigned into groups for their respective field assignments for a six-week period.
The A-FETP is an intermediate FETP training consisting of five training workshops, each of which is complemented with practical on-the-job projects.
