The Ministry of Public Health of Afghanistan/ FETP Afghanistan conducted a two-week training workshop between March 30 and April 11, 2019. This is Workshop (1) for the program’s first cohort. Taking place at the National Polio Eradication Office in Kabul, the workshop was attended by 28 residents from different provinces of Afghanistan. These were Farah, Faryab, Ghazni, Helmand, Kabul, Kandahar, Khost, Kumar, Kundoz, Nangarhar, Nooristan, Paktika, Paktya, Sarepul, Urozgan, and Zabul.
This workshop is part of five that comprise the FETP training. Each workshop is followed by on-the-job projects. Featuring practical sessions, presentations, and group discussion, the workshop covered topics of descriptive epidemiology, surveillance systems, outbreak investigation, Epi-Info, data management, as well as the polio system in Afghanistan.
By the end of the workshop, participants sat through a session on the project that they will be implementing for a number of weeks.
