The Engage Internship Program is part of EMPHNET’s initiatives for knowledge exchange and networking, designed to strengthen public health capacity in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR). Backed by EMPHNET’s technical expertise and experience in strengthening public health systems, the program bridges the gap between academic training and practical application in public health. 

 

 

The program is designed to support student learning and professional development beyond the classroom. It helps students and recent graduates to:

 

  • Enhance their practical competencies
  • Explore career opportunities
  • Prepare for future leadership roles in public health

 

Since its launch in 2019, Engage has supported over 80 undergraduates and graduates globally, equipping them with the skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly competitive field. We have collaborated with prestigious universities worldwide, hosting interns to complete their practicum or other training and field requirements and gain real-world experience. These Universities include:

  • Amongst many others.

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English

Upon completing the internship, interns will join the Engage Alumni Network, designed to foster continued learning, networking, and professional growth. Through this network, we:

  • Provide Learning Resources: Access training materials, webinars, and workshops to enhance your skills
  • Offers Exclusive Invitations: Participate in regional events and EMPHNET-hosted workshops that align with your career goals

Specialized and Accredited Public Health Training

As part of the Engage Program, we also offer the Engage Public Health Internship Training Program, a three-month, skills-based program accredited by the Agency for Public Health Education Accreditation (APHEA).

 

This program bridges the gap between academic learning and real-world public health practice, empowering aspiring public health professionals to turn their passion into impactful careers that make a difference in communities worldwide.

 

Upon completion, participants receive a Certificate of Completion and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points, validating their expertise and commitment to professional growth.

 

The program extends over 12 weeks and consists of self-paced learning modules with hands-on practical projects to ensure a well-rounded educational experience. Designed in accordance with the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), it balances theoretical insights with practical application. Top of Form

  • Do I need prior work experience?
    No, prior work experience is not required. We value a willingness to learn and contribute.
  • Will I receive a stipend?
    Internships are unpaid; but support for travel or accommodation will be offered for project related activities occurring during your internship.
  • How often are internship opportunities announced?
    Opportunities are updated quarterly.
  • Will I receive a recommendation letter or certificate?
    Yes, all interns who successfully complete the program receive a certificate of completion and a recommendation letter from their mentor.
