Working in the Eastern Mediterranean Region in line with a strategic focus, GHD|EMPHNET supports efforts for polio eradication and other vaccine preventable diseases (VPDs) elimination and control; enhancing equity and quality of immunization services; building the capacity of Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) team; strengthening leadership, management, and coordination for immunization; and enhancing evidence-based decision making through a team of experts.
Moving from strategy to practice, GHD|EMPHNET is currently focused on demand creation for vaccination; improvement of the quality of EPI data and its use at the national and sub-national levels; integration within the framework of Polio Endgame Strategy 2019–2023 in the region; community-based initiatives; public-private partnerships to enhance coverage of EPI in an equitable and sustainable manner; establishment and enhancement of different surveillance systems such as Acute Flaccid paralysis, Congenital rubella syndrome, and measles. GHD|EMPHNET also supports institutionalizing and enhancing microplanning at the national, sub-national, and field levels; conducting different operational studies to provide evidence to the decision makers; and strengthening National Immunization Technical Advisory Groups (NITAGs).
