Since 2017, GHD/EMPHNET has been working with the Morocco Ministry of Health (MoH) towards strengthening the surveillance of Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP), measles, and other vaccine preventable diseases (VPDs) throughout the country.
Within the framework of this collaboration, both parties met between June 19 and 21, 2019 in Rabat to plan for an internal review of AFP and other VPDs surveillance in Morocco.
During this meeting, regional surveillance officers from all the country’s region presented key AFP performance indicators for 2018 as well as the progress in the implementation of the regional plans to improve AFP surveillance.
Following these presentations, participants discussed several issues pertaining to the internal AFP review planned to be implemented next month by a team mainly comprising FETP graduates.
Discussions focused on customizing the review protocol and data collection tools to the local context as well as setting the selection criteria based on low-performing provinces.
GHD/EMPHNET’s collaboration with the Morocco MoH works to strengthen the country’s public health capacity towards sustaining polio eradication and enhancing national routine immunization activities.
